Are you a family caregiver of a child with developmental disabilities?
We are looking for strong advocate families to participate in our “Family Visit Assignment,” which gives our students a first-hand perspective of the many ways that children and their families live with a disability.
Visit consists of two parts:
1. A small group (2-3 students) interviews your family in your home about the needs, services, and supports you have accessed on behalf of the child with a disability. This part typically lasts 30-60 minutes.
2. After the interview, students accompany your family to an activity outside the home (e.g. recreational event, eating out, grocery shopping, etc.). This part typically lasts 30-60 minutes.
Families who complete the family visit assignment are offered an honorarium payment of $100 from the University of Illinois.
To be eligible to receive the honorarium, families must:
- Complete a Vendor Form and provide a Social Security Number (SSN), Federal Employer ID Number (FEIN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).
- Not be employed by the University of Illinois (salaried or unsalaried). If formerly employed by the University of Illinois, be off payroll for 12 months.
